Lamborghini Unveils Its Ugliest SuperCar For 4 Million Dollars!

Lamborghini Veneno

Lamborghini marked its 50th anniversary in March of this year by unveiling the lamborghini Veneno. The new car is being touted by Lamborghini as a “Race car and a road going super car” based on its ancestor, the lamborghini Aventador. Keeping everything very angular and sharp has been the focus of the designers when they were designing the exterior. Though most of the car enthusiasts and car reviewers are of the view that the Veneno has been overdone in the design department, the car surely packs some real punch when it comes to performance. Boasting a 12 cylinder 6.5 liter engine thats been coupled with a 7 speed transmission, the car can go from 0-100 km/hr in just 2.8 seconds. The total engine output is a whopping 750 BHP. The car also comes with 5 different driving modes to suit the driver’s style of driving. To get maximum performance, the car is a permanent 4 wheel drive.
Lamborghini has decided to keep the car very exclusive for now. They have made it possible by keeping the price tag of the car at a hefty $4 Million and only 3 of these are being produced. The best part, they have already been purchased by 3 lucky owners. Check out some of the pictures of this new super car at its unveiling ceremony and tell us in comments if you find the car worth it for 4 million dollars!

Japanese Engineers Launch The World’s Fastest Passenger Train

fastest train in the world

Japan’s MagLev Train is Fast, Very Fast-1

The people of Japan have been enchanted by the longest, largest and fastest maglev train in the world. From the middle of the twentieth century, the engineers are working on the maglev train concept. In 1968, James Powell, a researcher at Brookhaven National Lab, thought of using maglev trains (derived from magnetic levitation). The old wheel and axle model has been replaced by levitation system in maglev which lifts the cars by magnetism.
Japan’s MagLev Train is Fast, Very Fast-2The lift and push are provided to the train by the repulsive and attractive forces of magnetism used by this system.
The maglev trains that are operating at the present have been designed by the engineers in the preceding decade. A new maglev train has been tested on the Yamanashi Maglev Test Line recently.
The most recent maglev train in Japan is known as the LO Series and can run at speeds of up to 311mph (500 km/h). In its first run along the 26.6-miles test track, the train reached its top speed before it touched the 3-mile marker.
People who had the honor to ride on this high-tech LO told that they did not feel any turbulence or heard any noise while the train was moving at the great speeds. But it was a different story for the observers outside the train.

Japan’s MagLev Train is Fast, Very Fast-3[One] reporter felt a shock wave and a massive gust of wind as the train sped past him. He also reported a deafening sound that made conversation all but impossible,” said Asahi Shimbun.
It is still to be considered if this type of turbulence restricts LO from use in densely populated areas. Engineers have sufficient time till the planned inaugural date of LO in 2027 to reduce these external forces.
More maglev trains are expected to come in the areas of India, China and even the US in the future decades. The Maglev trains and Hyperloops will expectantly make mid-distance travel fast, calm and advanced.

Wirelessly Powered Electric Busses Launched in South Korea

OLEV Bus – Innovative Electric Vehicle for Public Transportation -4

KAIST, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology has established an Online Electric Vehicle (OLEV) system. It is an electric vehicle which is provided energy by the road while stationary or moving. The power is supplied to such electric vehicles by the cables fixed in the road. A permanent direct connection is not needed by these cables in order to charge the vehicle. As an alternative, a magnetic field is created which is converted into electrical energy by the devices carried on the bus.  Lots of components that are present in almost every electric vehicle currently, for instance, heavy batteries, overhead trolley lines are left out due to this particular feature. In addition to this, these busses are not required to stop for recharging. The limited range is a drawback of these vehicles as they cannot ride on the side of the road that supports them.

OLEV_Principle
The bus will be given 20 kHz and 100 kW (136 horsepower) electricity at an 85% maximum power transmission efficiency while keeping a distance of 17cm (6.7 inch) between the bus floor and the asphalt. 5% to 15% of the entire road surface needs to be rebuilt with the embedded cables.

OLEV Bus – Innovative Electric Vehicle for Public Transportation -2Formerly, this technology was successfully tested in a tramcar at an amusement park in Seoul.  Now, two OLEV buses are being tested which run between the train station and In-dong district in the city of Gumi, South Korea. This network entails 24km (15 miles) of road.
The cables in the road only turn on when they sense an OLEV approaching and the intensity of electromagnetic field is well within limits enforced by international EMF standards. These features have been anticipated to lessen the exposure of pedestrians and other vehicles to the magnetic fields and will also look after the wastage of energy.

If the busses running at the moment do not cause any problem, 10 more busses are expected to be put into operation.

Sagita Launches World’s First Helicopter Without A Tail Rotor

Sagita sherpa

 Sagita’s Sherpa (1)

An established company in Belgium called Sagita invented a helicopter with a unique propulsion system. They claim to have made a helicopter that can fly without a tail rotor making the aircraft 85% more efficient. They have named it Sherpa. One of the company directors, Hubert Antoine, suggested that the new design can also be applied to future helicopters and that Sherpa has also got the potential of being an UAV platform. The above mentioned system is based on a motor that powers a compressor which has its air intake at the rear side, instead of propelling the rotor directly. The air for maintaining the engine’s combustion is then supplied from the compressor while a cooling system provides the necessary cooling. Each of the two engine rotors are propelled by two turbines that are in turn driven by the compressed air at the temperature of 100º C (212º F).Sagita’s Sherpa (2)All of the above adds to Sagita’s claim that as a result of lesser moving parts there is a lower need for maintenance of the helicopter. The characteristics of the new design include 1.45 m (4.8 ft) wide and 1.26 m (4.1 ft) high cockpit, a bullet shaped fuselage for the air intake at the backside with the overall length being less than 4.8 m (15.8 ft). The range of the helicopter is hypothetically calculated to be 400 km (250 miles) along with a cruise speed of 158 km/h, the predictable maximum flight time is 5 hours and it can attain an altitude of up to 2000 m. Regarding the performance, Sagita affirmed that the 260 kg (573 lb) helicopter will be able to take off with additional 171 kg (377 lb) of payload. Sagita asserts to have verified the concept using a 1:5 scale model.Sagita’s SherpaSince the tests were carried out on a very small scale, the above data is mostly theoretical. The first flight is expected to take off in the year 2015 with sales initiating after another year with a starting price of €150,000 (US$200,000).

Coffee Haters Invent Sprayable Caffeine For Consumption Through Skin

sprayable-energy

Don’t Like Coffee Absorb Caffeine through the Skin with Sprayable Energy-4
If you are one of those people who do not like coffee, but still need to deal with endless work hours, here’s a solution for you. You can absorb caffeine through your skin with Sprayable Energy. Sprayable Energy is a patent-pending invention that allows you to get all the energy boosts caffeine has to offer, without the bitter taste of coffee on your taste buds. The spray is absorbed through the skin, much like osmosis and circulated throughout the body over a period of several hours, giving you a long-lasting caffeine buzz.
Don’t Like Coffee Absorb Caffeine through the Skin with Sprayable Energy-3A campaign has been launched recently, by 21-year-old Ben Yu and his partner Deven Soni on crowd funding platform Indiegogo for this ground-breaking product referred to as Sprayable Energy. The plastic can contains an odourless, colorless formula that gives users that highly craved for energy boost without the dreaded caffeine aftertaste. According to Yu, coffee didn’t appear to be working for him, but he needed roller coaster ride of energy. Hence he started working on a substitute for the popular bitter-sweet beverage in October 2012, while pursuing a degree in biochemistry. He started out by researching how nicotine patches worked, and like any novice inventor, acted as the test-subject for his own experiments. After immense of hard work, and a little help from his father, a PhD in chemistry, Ben came up with a special formula containing water, a derivative of the amino acid tyrosine, and caffeine that could be sprayed on the skin and offer the same energy buzz of coffee without the pungently bitter taste and caffeine jitters. Now all they needed was an extra $15,000 to develop the product line.
Don’t Like Coffee Absorb Caffeine through the Skin with Sprayable Energy-2Sprayable Energy is supposed to be applied much like perfume on the neck, wrists or wherever else someone might spray a fragrance. The caffeine content in each dose is less than a normal cup of coffee, but contains the same amount of energy because, as Ben and Deven explained, that since the product is not being ingested, it is not almost entirely metabolized by the liver before entering your system and becoming available to your body. Thus, a relatively smaller amount of caffeine can give just about as effective energy boost as a large amount of caffeine ingested through an energy drink or cup of coffee. Two sprays on each side of the neck are equivalent to one regular cup of coffee, and for the maximum number of sprays recommended by the manufacturers, is five within five hours, or 20 sprays per day. You’re probably wondering about the product’s safety now, but Yu reassures the consumers that there is no reason for concern, the reason being that not only can a spray can easily be wiped off before it is absorbed into the skin, but considering the worst case scenario that is if you were to spray yourself a thousand times, the saturation effect would prevent an overdose.
The funding campaign, launched by Ben and Deven, for Sprayable Energy has already crossed the targeted $15,000 mark, and Ben states that they hope to make it available in the market by the end of October. Each bottle will contain 40 doses and is expected to retail at $15. But there is one tiny detail you might want to consider before throwing away your coffee supplies. Sprayable Energy has yet to be approved by the FDA, and it is no secret that they have quite a history of rejecting caffeine-based products.
Don’t Like Coffee Absorb Caffeine through the Skin with Sprayable Energy-1But does Sprayable Energy really work as the inventors claim? We have yet to try it, but Fast Company’s Anya Kamenetz tried it throughout her workday and reported that every dose took between two and seven minutes to take effect, making her feel it was just another day with a hectic schedule and she had taken her regular cup of coffee.

Lernstift – A Pen That Checks Your Spellings As You Write

pen for spelling check

Lernstift – a Pen That Warns for Mistakes 4
At the present time, although we are all habituated to Auto-Correction system in almost all text processing computer programs but when we were kids and learning to write, there was nothing that could tip us off for our writing mistakes. Lernstift, one of Kickstarter crowd-funded scheme, has provided us a way out of this problem.
Lernstift – a Pen That Warns for Mistakes 3As per creators, Lernstift is the first ever brilliant pen with the entire tech and software is incorporated inside the pen body. It can be used individualistically or joined with various digital applications. A processor, motion sensor, WiFi, vibration module and a memory card is fixed inside it in a way to give it the shape of a pen. To add the excitement, the software is a Linux based.
Lernstift – a Pen That Warns for Mistakes 2The calculation of 2D path is done by Lernstift mathematically, that is, the recognition of hand-written letters. Owing to sensor noises and quite a lot of mathematical troubles, the making of such defined 2D path is not at all as simple as estimated.
Lernstift – a Pen That Warns for MistakesThe inventors collaborated with software designers for the computing engine of the pen. The handwriting recognition software was made by Munich-based entrepreneurs Daniel Kaesmacher and Falk Wolsky. When the user spells a word wrong, the pen alerts the user by a slight vibration. This engine was tried on lots of tablets and smartphones. The production of Lernstift will most likely start in the early 2014 and the initial price will be around 130-150 Euro.

Man Builds Perfect Replica Of Knight Rider Car

Knight Rider Fan Spends Three Years Building Perfect Replica of KITT-4

When the Knight Rider hit the market in the ‘80s, the nearly imperishable KITT, a heavily modified Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, was introduced to the world that left everybody dazed. Even today, the car continues its legacy of being one of the coolest cars ever made with remarkable features. Fans around the world spend countless resources and efforts to assemble their own real-life KITTs.
car-1.jpgOne such automobile junkie from Detroit, Chris Palmer, after working on it for about three years recently displayed his very own perfect replica of the famous movie car, in a promotional video for a local car insurance company . Palmer says that when he started out, he needed much more than the kindness of his friends to finance his insane obsession of having his own perfect KITT. He required five Pontiac Trans Ams, several custom parts and innumerable hours of dedicated work to create his four-wheeled tour de force. But in the end, as Palmer says, “it was totally worth it – more than worth it”. He had a maddening dream of sitting behind KITT’s steering wheel ever since he was a little kid, and his passion never died out throughout the years. He has owned and driven 15 or 16 Pontiac Firebird Trans Ams since he started driving, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that he took on the challenge of fashioning a perfect replica of the Knight Industries Two Thousand.
car.jpgThe auto enthusiast started out with 1991 Pontiac Trans Am which undoubtedly had a far better drivetrain but was nine years newer than the car used in Knight Rider. He eventually bought four more Trans Ams, two each from 1982 and 1983, so he could replace the necessary panels and parts to model his car to look exactly like KITT. Palmer’s ’91 Pontiac had a five-speed manual transmission, unlike KITT’s automatic, so he chopped the gear shift and changed the knob to make it look genuine. Fortunate as he was, he was able to get the trademark front bumper and complete dashboard on eBay, and all he had to do was to modify those and install them. After all the modifications, the car turned out better than he ever dreamed of constructing, which is reinforced by all the attention he gets driving around in his notable KITT.
car-1.jpgPalmer, who is now the president of the newly established Great Lakes Knights Car Club, intends to put his experience use, now that he has the resources, in building more movie-replica cars for other auto-enthusiast fans like himself.
